The data refers to the situation in autumn of each year. Studies in English, which is a compulsory language, start in most schools in the third grade.
Schools can offer Finnish, German or Frenchor as voluntary languages. As of 2021, some schools also offer Spanish as an voluntary language. This is because the comprehensive school on Åland got a new curriculum.
In upper secondary school, you can read two of the above mentioned voluntary languages at the same time.
