1.1.1 --- Population below the international poverty line, %

Source: ÅSUB
The international (absolute) poverty line is defined as US $ 1.90 a day (approximately US $ 694 per year), at 2011 prices it corresponds to about EUR 1.37 per day (about EUR 499 per year). The definition is not that relevant for Åland or Finland, here no one should have such a low income.

2.4.1 --- Proportion of agricultural area under ecological agriculture, %

Source: ÅSUB, Finnish Food Authority

3.1.1 --- Maternal mortality ratio

Source: ÅSUB, Ålands hälso- och sjukvård (ÅHS)

3.2.1 --- Under-five mortality rate

Source: ÅSUB, Statistics Finland
The under-five mortality rate as defined here is, strictly speaking, not a rate (i.e. the number of deaths divided by the number of population at risk during a certain period of time), but a probability of death derived from a life table and expressed as a rate per 1,000 live births. Methodology: Number of deaths at age 0-4 and population of the same age are used to calculate death rates which are then converted into age-specific probability of dying. Formula. q(x)=2*n*m(x)/2+n*m(x)*1000, where m(x) is death rate and n=5.

3.3.1 --- Number of new HIV infections per 1,000 population

Source: ÅSUB, Finnish institute for health and welfare

The mortality rate due to certain diseases as defined here is, strictly speaking, not a rate (i.e. the number of deaths divided by the number of population at risk during a certain period of time), but a probability of death derived from a life table and expressed as a rate. Methodology: Number of deaths at age 30-69 and population of the same age are used to calculate death rates which are then converted into age-specific probability of dying. Formula. q(x)=2*n*m(x)/2+n*m(x)*100, where m(x) is death rate and n=40.
Deceased due to malignant neoplasms (C00-C97), diabetes mellitus (E10-E14), diseases of the circulatory system (I00-I99), chronic lower respiratory tract diseases (J40-J47) and other diseases of the respiratory system (J00-J06, J20-J39, J60-J99)
