As the industrial classification was updated in 2008, the industrial data is not entirely comparable with previously published figures. Hourly and monthly earnings of wage are calculated for employees in the private sector. The earnings include additional items, such as overtime pay, working hour supplements, benefits in kind, performance-based bonuses and other one-off items. Those who regularly work more than 33,5 hours per week are regarded to be full-time employees. The statistics on monthly earnings include only those who work full-time. The statistics on hourly earnings include also part-time employees, as long as the earnings and working hours are known. The wage statistics for employees in the private sector are classified by industry, occupation, education, gender and length of employment relationship. The statistics derive from data collected from companies with more than three employees in the Åland Islands. The wage data are combined with information of the individual education level collected from an education register.
